Executive Director Katherine Cabaniss

Katherine Cabaniss assumed her duties as Executive Director on September 18, 2006.  She was a former Harris County Assistant District Attorney.

 

Crime Stoppers Board Chair Lewis Griffith said “We are excited to have Katherine join us at the helm of the world’s best Crime Stoppers program.  We will introduce her to our Board members at our September 19, 2006 Executive Committee meeting, and to all our attendees at the Crime Stoppers Gala on October 18, 2006 at the Houstonian Hotel.”

 

Katherine is a native Houstonian. She attended law school in

California, and is licensed to practice law in both California and Texas.

After a short time in private practice, she obtained a position at the

Harris County District Attorney's Office, where she was an assistant district

attorney for eleven years.

Katherine was promoted to Chief Prosecutor in the trial bureau, where she prosecuted felonies including aggravated robbery, sexual assault, and capital murder. She prosecuted one case in which the jury assessed the death penalty.
Most recently, she was assigned to the Major Fraud Division of the Special Crimes Bureau, where she specialized in the prosecution of white collar crime and identity theft. She is looking forward to the move to Crime Stoppers and to continuing to make our streets safer from crime.
