Crime Stoppers Golf Tournament Huge Success On Monday, April 16th, more than 150 golfers enjoyed a beautiful, sunny day and played 18 holes of golf at the Northgate Country Club. The Crime Stoppers Celebrity Golf Classic was off to a great start as players mingled with local celebrities and received free golf essentials including a custom designed Crime Stoppers Golf shirt provided by sponsors Securitas and Raptor Technologies. Golfers enjoyed a generous lunch provided by James Coney Island. After a shotgun start at 12:00 p.m., golfers traversed Northgate’s challenging courses while sponsors like Silver Eagle Distributors and Coca-Cola provided refreshments. Golfers competed for prizes on several holes. Golfers could tee off to win a brand new fully loaded Ford Edge provided by Sid Jarnagin and Bay City Ford after a hole-in-one. On another hole, a hole-in-one could bring a brand new boat provided by Marine Max. Though no one won the prizes, we did have an outstanding hole-in-one by Kim Haberland of Coca-Cola early in the day! Great shot, Kim, even if it was on the “wrong” hole! An outstanding fajita dinner was provided by Northgate Country Club. Golf Committee Chairman David Straughan and Katherine Cabaniss conducted the after-tournament ceremonies. Crime Stoppers thanks the public officials and other celebrities who helped make the tournament a highly successful event. The Crime Stoppers Golf Committee deserves special appreciation for their weeks of behind-the-scenes work. A special thank you is extended to the various sponsors who donated so generously including Continental Airlines, Securitas, Raptor Technologies, Diversified Lithographics, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Silver Eagle Distributors, and all of the companies who participated by purchasing teams and sponsorships. First place trophies went to Burns Bail Bonds, a team comprised of Sean Burns, Bill Stradley and their celebrity guest Judge Bill Harmon. Second place was won by the Andrews Kurth, LLP team comprised of John Lee, Bill Kelly, Greg Degeurin, and Mark Duke. Even the last place team won a one-night stay at the NASA Hilton Hotel located at Clear Lake, generously donated by Advisory Board Member Steve Davis. Raffle prizes ranged from golf balls and paraphernalia to two Continental Airlines round-trip tickets. All in all, the 2007 Crime Stoppers Celebrity Golf Classic was a tremendous success! |
