Crime Stoppers along with Council Member Ed Gonzalez, the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office, National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), and Texas Association of Special Investigation Units (TASIU) seeks to raise public awareness regarding insurance fraud and its effects on the community at-large.
Insurance fraud costs Americans at least $80 billion a year, or nearly $950 for each family and Houston has led the state in the number of questionable claims reported over the past three years.
Crime Stoppers will offer up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest or filing of felony charges against any suspect involved in insurance fraud. Callers are urged to call 713-222-TIPS, or submit a tip online at www.crime-stoppers.org. Tips can also be sent by text message; text TIP610 plus your tip to CRIMES (274637). All tipsters remain anonymous.
