Special Statistics
Since 1981, anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers have resulted in more than 22,000 arrests and more than 30,000 solved crimes.
Since 2007, criminals arrested on Crime Stoppers’ tips have been sentenced to 8,415 years in Texas state prisons, including 18 life sentences, 2,260 months in Texas state jails, and 29,973 days in the Harris County jail.
Initiatives and Programs

Safe School Program
Promotes the use of the anonymous tip line by students to report criminal activity on school campuses. Since 1997, the program has been instrumental in preventing school violence. It has recovered 74 guns on school property and solved more than 1,600 crimes.

Safe Child Initiatives
Highlights dangerous fugitives who have victimized children and ask citizens to report their whereabouts. Since 2007, these initiatives have been very successful, with tips to Crime Stoppers solving 116 Failure to Register/Comply cases and solving 173 sexual offenses against children.

Domestic Violence Initiatives
Reduces and prevents domestic violence by highlighting wanted domestic violence fugitives in support of “National Domestic Violence Awareness Month” in October. Since 2008, Crime Stoppers has solved 196 crimes involving Assault of a Family Member.

Human Trafficking
Our anonymous tip line and cash reward system is the first use of the Crime Stoppers’ resource to fight human trafficking in the country. Since August, 2008, Crime Stoppers has received 29 human trafficking tips and has helped solve one trafficking case.

Animal Cruelty and Anti-Dog Fighting
The Crime Stoppers’ Animal Cruelty and Anti-Dog Fighting Campaign raises public awareness about Dog Fighting and Animal Cruelty, along with generating tips that lead to the successful prosecution of suspects involved in these activities.

Identity Theft Prevention
Crime Stoppers and Capital One’s Identity Theft Initiative proved to be a true success in educating the public on the cost and harm caused by this type of crime, and seeking to receive tips from citizens from related cases showcased throughout the week of the initiative.
